  4.     The mission: to go where no Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
  5. Staff had ever gone before. So there was Admiral WILLIAM CROWE at
  6. the helm of a Navy ship of the future, the U.S.S. Enterprise,
  7. chatting with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. At the
  8. transporter room, the admiral pointed toward space and said, "I
  9. could put this to very good use and beam a few people I know out
  10. there."  But the admiral doesn't plan to guest on Star Trek. "When
  11. I retire," he said, "I aspire to be at the bar in Cheers." In fact,
  12. in a March episode of Cheers, Crowe will walk on and be mistaken
  13. for the doorman at the Ritz-Carlton. This could be the start of a
  14. whole new career.
